Budget

If you have already begun to obtain contractor bids and estimates, STOP!  You are putting the cart before the horse. 

Like anything we do or plan for in our homes, the million dollar question is always “What’s the budget”. Whether you are hiring contractors or doing it yourself, it is important to understand what YOU are comfortable investing. 

Most people make the mistake of asking for bids and estimates in order to establish a budget. By doing so you are running the risk of your project getting off track. This is your home and this is your investment in your home. You know your finances, what you can afford and how much you want to spend on this investment. It is important to understand that knowing how much you would like to invest in your project is one of the sure ways to avoid overspending.
